Political Debates and Economic Measures in Mexico

President Claudia Sheinbaum reiterated that her government cares for Mexican family economies, which is why it has subsidized gasoline prices amid rising oil costs. She called on her allies in the PT and PVEM parties to respond to the public's call, stating that the bill is a significant advance in democratic construction. In the Senate, the ratification of new Foreign Minister Roberto Velasco was a contentious event. Despite opposition senators voting against him for allegedly endorsing an irresponsible foreign policy, PAN party president Kenia López Rabadán wished him success. The Supreme Court ordered the Attorney General's Office to prosecute a lawyer who argued that a woman had no right to privacy if she shared her own photos. Meanwhile, the National Electoral Institute (INE) faces a budget crisis, as state governments continue to financially suffocate the Local Public Electoral Bodies (OPLE), leading to a 27.62% budget reduction by 2026.
