Martha Elena Soto, head of the state's Secretariat of Education, reported that there are no registered cases of drug sales within the state's public school system. She noted that fortunately, the secretariat has protocols in case such a situation is detected, as it is an issue that requires permanent work and a culture of reporting. "If we had knowledge of issues of this nature, we would report it to the authorities at the appropriate time, but internally, the truth is that we do not have such reports; complaints as such do not exist," she stated. Although the state's attorney general recently announced the detention of individuals for selling drugs in a high school, the secretariat clarified that the school is not part of the state system. She explained that although they were aware of the incident, as a department they are only on standby in case there is a request for information, although she emphasized that it is unlikely as it is not part of the subsystem. "We are aware of the fact, but it is not a subsystem that is part of the state government, and we hope that this will be resolved," Soto said. Although she avoided revealing the name of the educational subsystem involved, arguing that making public statements does not contribute to investigations or the well-being of school communities, she also avoided discussing the case, considering it sensitive due to the involvement of students. According to information provided by the state's attorney general, the complaint was filed by students of the institution, and as a result, the responsible person was apprehended and linked to the process. In this operation, 6 searches were carried out in neighborhoods of Corregidora and Querétaro, and substances with characteristics of methamphetamine and THC were secured, so justified preventive prison was imposed as a precautionary measure, and a 15-day period was set for complementary investigation.
