The Secretary of the Interior of Mexico, Rosa Icela Rodríguez, stated that the biometric CURP document is a tool for social justice, with which the Government of Mexico guarantees that each person has a unique, verifiable, and protected identity to strengthen their rights. This Monday, public servants from the department participated in the taking of biometric data as part of the update of the Unique Population Registration Code (CURP). The official added that this is not just a technological advance, but a transformation in the way the State recognizes and protects people's identity as a right. This is not an isolated project, she said, but part of the commitment of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo to protect this human right to identity and make the CURP the main document in the country, through which government services can be provided more efficiently, securely, and accessibly; in addition to reducing the risk of duplication, identity theft, and misuse of personal information. She indicated that this process will allow for the advancement of a model in which the Biometric CURP can be progressively adopted throughout the country's population, strengthening confidence in records and public services.
