The mayor of Corregidora, Josué Guerrero Trápala, granted an interview to Publimetro Querétaro in which he spoke about the achievements and challenges of his municipality, his style of government, his relationship with his team and Governor Mauricio Kuri, as well as the internal unity of the PAN for 2027. Guerrero highlighted the positive indicators of Corregidora: municipality with the best quality of life according to the UN, highest level of education and lowest illiteracy rate in the state, triple A rating in finances, lowest perception of insecurity at the national level, 60% of the population with formal employment, one of the best-paid police forces in the country, 15% reduction in violence last year, fifth place nationally in the human development index according to the UN, and first in Querétaro. “It's a very interesting melting pot,” he said of the municipality, which combines a population with a century-old tradition and history (including the El Cerrito archaeological site and the Basilica) with a strong internal migration of people arriving seeking better opportunities. “Everyone wants to live in Corregidora,” he noted. He asks his team to be decisive, not bureaucratic, and very open to the public. “I have 17 years in the PAN… over time, one learns to take comments depending on who they come from”. He explained that in his cabinet he looks for profiles with experience in both the public and private sectors, technical skills, and an affinity with his vision. “They are always welcome as long as they help preserve and improve the place where they are coming to live”. When asked what it feels like to govern a municipality with these indicators, he replied: “It is a great honor, but you have an enormous responsibility”. “We understand that we are not going to divide ourselves… when the governor and the party make the decision on who will head the candidacy, the rest of us will fall in line”. He said that Corregidora was the municipality where the PAN obtained its best results in 2024, with a difference of almost 30 points (more than 40,000 votes) over Morena, and that this generates greater responsibility. Regarding the PAN's openness to citizens, he defended that the party seeks profiles with a clean track record, managerial skills, and who embrace its principles. He also values sensitivity: “Issues of the elderly or of children… they affect me a lot”. Regarding his relationship with Governor Mauricio Kuri, he expressed gratitude, affection, and total loyalty: “We have learned a lot from him”. He criticized Morena and Citizen Movement for being “movements” rather than parties with ideological solidity, and called them “recyclers of politicians from other parties”. “Neither of the two is a political party… they do not have an ideological solidity,” he said. “Don't let them go around in circles,” he said. He recalled that he began working with him 12 years ago and that when he was interim mayor in 2018 at the age of 26, he was the youngest mayor of Corregidora. “A leader's success is to surround yourself with people more capable, more prepared, smarter than you,” he cited. “I can't go below that”. That is your floor. He acknowledged that success generates high expectations: “It generates a very strong expectation of results… it is a double sensation that for me is very enriching because it reminds you at all times that such an overwhelming result is an expectation, it is a vote of confidence, and it is also a citizen's demand”. Regarding how he handles criticism, he said he takes constructive and technical observations with openness, but easily identifies politicking.
