Controversy Over Judicial Reform in Mexico

The president has reiterated her stance on judicial reform, stating that it is not a judicial coup, but rather a resistance from judges, magistrates, and ministers. She insists that the reform was a democratic decision made by the citizens at the polls and accuses the Judiciary of violating the law.

Amidst the clashes between the government and the Judiciary, the president highlights that there has already been a constitutional reform and criticizes the Judiciary's position, which is on strike while still receiving their salary. According to the president, judges who oppose the reform will have difficulties being elected by the people if they have a questionable record.

For her part, Judge Nancy Juárez has generated controversy by ordering the removal of the decree of the reform from the Official Gazette of the Federation. In this regard, the president believes that the judge is exceeding her functions and emphasizes that the judicial reform is already part of the Constitution.

In response to the statements of a magistrate advocating for more time for judicial processes, the president emphasizes that the constitutional reform has already been carried out and that the law is not being violated. Regarding the judges and magistrates who have announced daily conferences parallel to the morning briefings at the National Palace, the president urges them to clarify their arguments and reproaches them for not fulfilling their function.

The controversy between the government and the Judiciary continues, with mutual accusations and opposing positions on the judicial reform and the role of both parties in the process of change.
