Death Threats Against Local Officials in Gustavo A. Madero

The mayor of Gustavo A Madero, Janecarlo Lozano, revealed that he received death threats against one of the workers from the mayor's office after carrying out regulations on street vendors and police operations in the Progreso Nacional neighborhood. During a press conference, Lozano reported that the Chief of Legal Guidance of Territorial 7, Bonifacio Prado, was threatened through a mobile application. The mayor described this act as an attack not only against the official but also against the local government.

The threatening message included the worker's address and warnings of attacks on his family, along with an image of a deceased person on the ground. These threats came after a day of work in the neighborhood, where urban improvement tasks were carried out and police surveillance was deployed to maintain order in the area.

Lozano emphasized that they will not allow intimidating messages to stop the government's actions against those who profit from extorting street vendors. In light of this situation, the threatened official filed a complaint with the Public Ministry for the crime of threats, requesting protection for himself and his family.

The mayor also mentioned that there are several complaints against former officials of the mayor's office for extorting street vendors, who charged illegal amounts of money for allowing them to work on the streets. A process has been initiated to investigate these former public servants and take necessary measures if their involvement in irregular activities is proven.

To address this situation, Janecarlo Lozano announced an operation in the Progreso Nacional neighborhood to restore peace in the area, and committed to prohibiting the sale of alcoholic beverages on public roads during this process.
