Judge Defends Decision on López Obrador's Case

Juan José Olvera López, one of the judges in charge of leading the morning conferences of the Judicial Branch, revealed that in the past he made the decision to avoid the impeachment of current president Andrés Manuel López Obrador. He emphasized that he refused to put him on trial, which allowed him to participate in the 2006 presidential election.

When asked if he would repeat his election despite the fact that it was López Obrador himself who promoted the judicial reform, Olvera López stated that he would, considering it was the right thing to do. He clarified that he did not intervene in the cases of Juan Collado or Uriel Carmona, despite the accusations on social media.

During one of the morning broadcasts, the judges announced that the suspensions against the judicial reform promoted by López Obrador would be evaluated by competent courts. They highlighted the importance of maintaining calm and confidence in justice to resolve such situations.

In the recent broadcast of the morning conference, the head of government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum, mentioned the existence of a campaign against her to portray her as a lawbreaker. She referred to the judges as those who are violating the law and emphasized the importance of having the people choose their judicial authorities through popular vote.
