The Mexican Ministry of Defence reported the death of 19 people, allegedly belonging to a gang, as a result of a confrontation outside the capital of the State of Sinaloa. During the operation, a local gang leader was also arrested.
According to the ministry's report, security forces received information about the presence of suspected gang members in one of the areas in the municipality of Culiacán. As a result of the operation, 19 people were discovered, who began shooting at the military, which initiated the confrontation.
One of the suspects was detained at the scene, while others fled into the surrounding area. According to the ministry's statement, after the confrontation, weapons, ammunition, and some means of transportation were seized. Within the framework of the operation, a suspected gang leader was also arrested.
An investigation into the circumstances of the incident is underway, and it is also being established whether the detained individuals are connected to other crimes.
