Tensions Rise in Local Legislative Committees

Legislators are facing pressure regarding committee leadership with ongoing disputes between parties. Public representatives advocate for independence amidst stalled initiatives, impacting legislative progress.

Tensions Rise in Local Legislative Committees

Local legislators have been pressured to define the presidency and integration of the 25 committees of the state Congress. So far, there are at least 20 initiatives pending progress due to this situation.

"The PAN, with Gerardo Ángeles Herrera as president, would lead some committees, while Morena would lead others. This distribution had generated some dissatisfaction among the deputies. In addition, the state leadership of Morena and Gilberto Herrera were accused of interfering to prevent agreements in the local legislature," said deputy Guillermo Vega Guerrero, president of the Political Coordination Board.

Although most deputies already have a designated committee, the lack of agreements has led to a standstill in defining the presidencies. It is expected that a consensus will be reached this week; otherwise, other strategies will be sought to resolve the situation.
