The Green Ecologist Party of Mexico (PVEM) refutes claims about rejecting Morena's initiative on constitutional supremacy, asserting their commitment to cooperation with allies and supporting President Claudia Sheinbaum's projects.

PVEM Denies Rejection of Constitutional Supremacy Initiative

The Ecologist Green Party of Mexico (PVEM) denied a statement that had been circulating on social media, which supposedly rejected the Morena initiative to reaffirm "constitutional supremacy," which seeks to protect constitutional reforms from amparo trials. In an official statement, PVEM indicated that the statement in question was not issued by the National Executive Committee of that political party.

PVEM stated: "The Ecologist Green Party of Mexico categorically denies the claims made in the document published by journalist Leticia Robles de la Rosa on her account on social media X." They affirmed that the document did not represent the official stance of the party or its leaders, clarifying that the information was based on the personal opinion of one of its members, Arturo Escobar.

Arturo Escobar of PVEM had previously expressed his rejection of the Morena initiative regarding "constitutional supremacy" that aimed to protect constitutional reforms from amparo trials. In the alleged statement issued by PVEM, Escobar indicated that he did not see the need to bring the country into that kind of debate, referring to the proposal from the Morena coordinators.

On the other hand, the coordinator of the Morena senators, Adán Augusto López Hernández, confirmed that he would withdraw his proposal to reform Article One of the Constitution, which eliminated the "control of conventionality" from the Magna Carta. In a radio interview, López Hernández mentioned that the reform would be limited only to Articles 103, 105, and 107 of the Constitution.

The senator anticipated that the modification proposal of Article 1 of the Constitution would be removed specifically regarding the issue of the conventionality of laws. López Hernández announced that during the meeting of the joint commissions of Constitutional Points and Legislative Studies, the modification would take place.
