Counselor Dania Ravel distanced herself from the INE statement regarding the restart of the organization of the election of judges, ministers, and magistrates. On X, the president of the Commission on Prerogatives and Political Parties and of the Radio and Television Committee expressed: “This press release was not agreed upon with me, as a member of the General Council of the INE, so it does not reflect my point of view and interpretation concerning the determination issued in the Declarative Action by the Superior Chamber of the TEPJF.”
The National Electoral Institute (INE) announced it will continue with the organization of the judicial election after the Electoral Tribunal determined that it is constitutionally unfeasible to suspend the scheduled judicial electoral process for next year.
In a statement, the INE indicated that the resolution from the presiding magistrate Felipe de la Mata Pizaña establishes that the declarative action requested by the Institute is allowable, through which it requested a pronouncement aimed at guaranteeing the fulfillment of its functions, “therefore, it is constitutionally unfeasible to suspend the execution of electoral procedures.” That is to say, the organization of the PEEPJF 2024-2025 must continue.
It added that this resolution brings clarity and certainty for the INE to fulfill its state function of organizing elections and guaranteeing the electoral political rights of Mexicans.
The TEPJF declared this Wednesday that it is “constitutionally unfeasible” to stop the elections within the Judiciary in June 2025 and gave the green light to the INE to continue the organization of the elections. In a session this Wednesday, the “declarative action requested by the National Electoral Institute” was approved, following the numerous provisional suspensions issued by the Judiciary.
With three votes in favor and two against, the Superior Chamber of the Electoral Tribunal ruled the declarative action requested by the INE as “allowable” to continue the preparation for the upcoming voting of ministers, judges, and magistrates.
