The Ecologist Green Party of Mexico (PVEM) rejects the initiative presented by the coordinators of the Morena parliamentary group in the Chamber of Deputies and in the Senate of the Republic, which seeks to reaffirm Constitutional supremacy and the Reforming Power. The leader of the PVEM, Arturo Escobar y Vega, has expressed his opposition to this proposal, arguing that it is unnecessary to generate such a debate in the country.
Arturo Escobar y Vega highlighted the unnecessary nature of bringing the country to this discussion, referring to the initiative of the Morena coordinators who intend for no modification to the Political Constitution to be challenged, similar to what has happened with the reform of the Judicial Power that has been subject to amparos for violating the rights of judges.
In a statement, Escobar y Vega made clear the position of the PVEM towards this initiative, which has generated controversy in Mexican political life and is now undergoing analysis in parliamentary committees. The party leader emphasized the importance of defending the universal rights of Mexicans and pointed out that the proposal limits individuals seeking to challenge laws that affect their rights.
On the other hand, following the circulation of an initial statement claiming that the PVEM would not support the constitutional supremacy initiative of Morena, the party issued a second statement denying that information and stating that they never rejected or opposed said initiative. They clarified that the previous statement was not issued by the National Executive Committee of the party and reiterated their commitment to work together with their allies.
Amid this clash of statements, the PVEM assured that the first document reflected the personal stance of Arturo Escobar y Vega, and not the official position of the party. In this way, the Green Party remained firm in its support for the projects of President Claudia Sheinbaum and reaffirmed its commitment to collaboration with its political allies.
