
One hundred students from the Faculty of Law at UNAM will receive excellence scholarships in a project in collaboration with the UNAM Foundation and the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN). The goal is to support future lawyers in the country. The President Minister of the Court, Norma Piña Hernández, praised the initiative of the UNAM Foundation, which has been promoting this work for over three decades. She emphasized the importance of extending the benefits of culture and maintaining the autonomy, academic rigor, and plurality of UNAM.
At an event, Norma Piña Hernández stressed the need to act in accordance with the rule of law to provide favorable accountability to society. For his part, the rector of UNAM, Leonardo Lomelí Vanegas, highlighted the importance of young people interested in a judicial career having the opportunity to deepen their relationship with the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation through these scholarships, which will contribute to their professional development.
The goal of the "Rule of Law Generation 2024" scholarships is to benefit 100 excellence students from the Bachelor of Law at UNAM. Each student will receive a monthly scholarship of 2,200 pesos, 2,000 from the Court and 200 from the UNAM Foundation, for 10 months per academic year. To access the scholarship, students must have a minimum grade point average of 9.0 and be enrolled in the third semester of the program.
To date, 700 academically excellent students have benefited from these agreements between the SCJN and the UNAM Foundation.
