Morena seeks to define its future in CDMX

In Mexico City, the leadership of the Morena party faces an uncertain scenario regarding its future, with sources close indicating that Luisa María Alcalde and her team have expressed their intention not to intervene too much in the capital and let the succession of Sebastián Ramírez be in the hands of Clara Brugada and the local party structures. In this context, figures close to Ramírez, especially from Iztapalapa, are emerging as possible successors.

In this sense, it is highlighted that Clara Brugada has included members of Ramírez's team in her cabinet, as part of the transition in the direction of Morena in CDMX. Meanwhile, Luisa María Alcalde, president of Morena, is conducting tours in different states to promote party membership and strengthen local committees, with the goal of reaching 10 million members across the country.

Despite these movements at the national level, no definitive decisions have been made in Mexico City yet, and the former mayor continues to work on the formation of her cabinet and government team. For its part, the Labor Party managed to halt a proposal in Congress that was creating tension in Xochimilco.

Amidst the dispute for the leadership of Morena, it is mentioned that there are three favorite candidates in Iztapalapa supported by Clara Brugada. Meanwhile, the definition regarding the leadership of the party in the Mexican capital remains in suspense, with indications that the national leadership is leaving decisions in local hands. Among the figures mentioned in this context are Ángel Sánchez, José Antonio Jiménez Islas, and Víctor Varela, who could play key roles in the upcoming decisions of the Morena party in Mexico City.
