Judge defends release of ex-security chief of Chapo

At a morning conference, Judge Diana Partida explained the arguments of her rulings and responded to the statements made by the President of the Republic regarding the notification of judicial suspensions. The judge mentioned that her decision to release Marcelino Ticante Castro, alleged former head of security for Chapo Guzmán, was based on the fact that he had completed 97.47% of his sentence and had 102 days left.

The judge defended her stance by stating that decisions are not made randomly, but are based on a detailed study of each case, relying on data, evidence, the law, and solid arguments. She emphasized that luck is not used to determine who remains in prison, who is released, or how other important judicial aspects are resolved.

The Attorney General's Office issued an informative card explaining that it presented 78 pieces of evidence related to the crimes of kidnapping and treason allegedly committed by Joaquín Guzmán López, which they considered sufficient to request his detention. They also denied that the arrest warrant was linked to the homicide of Héctor Melesio Cuén.

In response to criticisms from the Secretary of the Interior, Rosa Icela Rodríguez, accusing the judge of favoring organized crime, Diana Partida denied these accusations and stated that the Attorney General did not challenge her decision, which was declared firm. The judge explained that in this case, the procedures established by law were applied and all requirements for the release of Marcelino Ticante Castro were met.
