Sheinbaum vs Salas: Conflict over Judicial Reform

On Wednesday, the mayor of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum, informed that the Legal Advice Office of the Presidency had received a notification via QR to remove a publication related to the reform of the Judiciary. In response, Sheinbaum emphasized that, according to the law of the Official Newspaper of the Federation, it is not possible to remove publications as requested by Judge Nancy Salas.

In a morning conference, the mayor explained that the law establishes that the Official Newspaper of the Federation cannot be altered, so it is not appropriate to remove a publication that has already been made; instead, a new publication should be carried out to modify it. Sheinbaum expressed her concern that Judge Salas is infringing on the amparo law and the law of the Official Newspaper of the Federation.

Sheinbaum referred to article 7bis of the Official Newspaper of the Federation and Government Gazettes, highlighting the importance of guaranteeing the authenticity and integrity of publications. Despite this, the mayor mentioned that she had received a second notification from Judge Salas and assured that the legal advisor, Ernestina Godoy, had sent a statement to the Congress of the Union requesting their opinion on the matter.

For her part, Judge Nancy Salas clarified that her office did not send the message with the QR to the Legal Advice Office and denied having ordered such a notification. In light of this situation, the controversy over notifications related to the reform of the Judiciary continues to generate controversy among the authorities.
