The Head of Government, Clara Brugada, declared that she will defend the 4,799 square meters of conservation land in Chapultepec Forest, specifically at Montes Apalaches 525. The measure was taken after the Judiciary demanded that the deputies of the Mexico City Congress change the land use to allow housing constructions.
During an event in the Pedregal de Santo Domingo neighborhood, Coyoacán borough, Brugada expressed her firm commitment to protecting Chapultepec Forest. She considers the judge's ruling excessive for ordering action without prior deliberation. The capital's leader emphasized the importance of preserving public spaces and natural areas, including Chapultepec Forest, a cultural and environmental heritage of the city.
Regarding the Mexico City Congress, the coordinator of the Morena party's bench, Xóchitl Bravo, announced that they will take all legal measures to prevent the construction of a real estate project in Chapultepec Forest. They refused to comply with the Judiciary's instruction that seeks to change the land use from green to residential in a plot of this forest.
Bravo highlighted that they are carrying out legal, political, and social actions to support the deputies and defend Chapultepec Forest. They believe the Judiciary is overstepping its functions by trying to impose decisions on the Legislative Branch unilaterally, without allowing the corresponding deliberative process.
