Violent Clash in Tecpan de Galeana Leaves Multiple Fatalities

During the morning of Thursday, October 24, in Tecpan de Galeana, tragic events occurred that generated discrepancies between the official record and the data disseminated by the media. At the national level, state and federal authorities collected information on homicides, thanks to the coordinated work of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), the results of which were published in the Security Report.

According to the report from October 24, 70 deaths were recorded in various regions of the country; however, the figures did not match what occurred in Sinaloa and Guerrero. Specifically, in Guerrero, the official report reflected five deceased individuals. During the early hours of that same day, the criminal group Guerrero Nueva Generación (GNG) carried out an incursion in Tecpan de Galeana, triggering a confrontation with both municipal police and local hitmen.

Following the shooting, the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) reported on the consequences of the incident. The SSPC, along with the prosecutors' offices, detailed that in Guerrero, a confrontation occurred in which two police officers were killed and four agents were injured. Additionally, the deaths of 14 individuals identified as members of armed gangs involved in the confrontation were recorded.

In this regard, the institution communicated: "A confrontation in which municipal police officers who were on duty were involved, resulting in 2 deceased and 4 injured who were treated". Although the media also counted the two deceased police officers, the death of 14 individuals identified as hitmen or assailants participating in the shooting was confirmed.
