
The Attorney General's Office of the State of Guerrero reported that 15 people were arrested in Tecpan de Galeana after a confrontation between alleged hitmen and municipal and military police. Among those arrested, 10 are from Guatemala, one from El Salvador, and four from Mexico. During the operation, more than 15 explosive devices were located and safely detonated by the Mexican Army.
Additionally, 21 long guns, more than 5,500 useful cartridges, over 60 magazines, various tactical equipment, and 17 vehicles reported stolen were secured, of which three had homemade armor. The Attorney's Office mentioned that an investigation file was opened for various crimes, including qualified homicide, attempted homicide, qualified injuries, and attacks on public peace.
In another context, the mayor of Tecpan de Galeana, Alba Soberanis Hernandez, reported that some of the alleged hitmen came from Guatemala. In a video, the official asked local residents to collaborate with authorities by reporting the presence of weapons, explosives, or suspicious individuals in the area. She also urged residents to alert if they identify people related to criminal activities in the region.
Soberanis highlighted the commitment to ensure the safety of her municipality and urged citizens to remain vigilant and communicate with authorities if they identify any threats. The mayor reaffirmed that she would remain steadfast in protecting the local community and in the prompt resolution of the delicate situation in the area.
