Rising Theft of LED Headlights in Mexico City

Mexico City (CDMX) is on alert due to the constant theft of vehicle parts, with LED headlights being one of the most frequent targets. Recently, a video was circulated on social media showing three individuals stealing the LED headlights from a Seat Ibiza in the Ignacio Zaragoza neighborhood of CDMX.

In the viral images, the thieves can be seen carrying out the theft in a matter of seconds, with no one intervening to stop them. Two witnesses managed to capture the modus operandi of the criminals, who acted quickly and without being disturbed.

The events took place on 43rd Street in the Ignacio Zaragoza neighborhood, where the three individuals, riding two motorcycles, approached a green Seat Ibiza. Two of them managed to remove the LED headlights from the vehicle by violently tearing off the front fascia before fleeing with total impunity.

Amid the growing wave of LED headlight thefts in CDMX, vehicles of the Seat brand, such as the Ibiza and the León, have been frequent targets for criminals. These headlights, valued between 16,000 and 30,000 pesos in the market, are especially vulnerable and coveted due to their high-end technology, making them a profitable target for thieves.
