During this weekend, President Claudia Sheinbaum and businessman Claudio X. González have been in a confrontation due to the reform of the Judiciary. Sheinbaum pointed out that the Senate had not approved the withdrawal of the reform from the Official Federal Gazette (DOF) since the injunction referenced by a judge was inadmissible.
In the midst of this exchange of accusations, Sheinbaum called Claudio X. González "toxic junior," accusing him of rapidly destroying democracy, freedom, rights, institutions, and trust. The head of the Mexico City government stated that the businessman leads the opposition parties and is now also seeking to direct the Supreme Court.
In response, Claudio X. González declared himself proud to be the son of businessman Claudio X. González Laporte and emphasized his dedication to philanthropy, social and political activism. He also called her "authoritarian," accusing her of not being independent from former president Andrés Manuel López Obrador, whom he referred to as her "political father."
The businessman had criticized Sheinbaum for not complying with a judge's order to remove the judicial reform from the Official Federal Gazette, labeling her as "authoritarian, inept, and nonsensical." González urged Sheinbaum not to use that line of attack against him until she politically separates herself from the former president. The confrontation between them continues amid mutual differences and critiques.
