
Six Guatemalan citizens were arrested on Saturday in Tecpan de Galeana, Guerrero, for possession of cartridges, according to the State Public Security Secretariat. The arrest was made as part of the surveillance strategy in the Costa Grande region, involving the State Police, the Mexican Army, the National Guard (GN), and the State Attorney General's Office (FGE). The individuals were found in possession of cartridges exclusively for use by the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
In a joint action, the State Attorney General's Office of Guerrero reported that a total of 15 individuals were arrested in Tecpan de Galeana following a confrontation between alleged hitmen and municipal and military police. Among those arrested, 10 are from Guatemala, one from El Salvador, and four are Mexican nationals. During the operation, more than 15 explosives were found, which were safely neutralized by the Mexican Army.
The mayor of Tecpan de Galeana, Alba Soberanis Hernández, expressed her concern and mentioned that some of those involved in the confrontation were from Guatemala. She called on citizens to be vigilant and notify authorities if they find weapons, explosives, or suspicious individuals. The official reiterated her commitment to work for the well-being of the municipality and requested the cooperation of the population to maintain security in the area.
