Activists, civil organizations, and residents have joined together to form the Front in Defense of Chapultepec Forest. The main objective of this front is to prevent the construction of a real estate project at Montes Apalaches 525, which was authorized by the Judiciary through the modification of land use in the protected natural area.

Morena legislator, Víctor Hugo Romo, stated that the Front in Defense of Chapultepec Forest has the support of President Claudia Sheinbaum and Government Chief Clara Brugada. He also mentioned that the names of the lawyers from Trepi and the judges who have ruled in favor of the land use change will be revealed in the coming days.

On the other hand, Morena's parliamentary coordinator, Xóchitl Bravo, assured that the creation of the Front does not imply defiance on the part of the legislators, but they will continue the legal battle against the Judiciary until all available instances are exhausted.

Legislator Cecilia Vadillo highlighted the environmental importance of the nearly five thousand square meters in question, where about 40 species of birds, some endangered, have their habitat. It was reported that informational tables will be set up in different sections of Chapultepec Forest for the collection of signatures in support of the cause.

Regarding legal actions, Green Party legislator, Jesús Sesma, announced that he will file a criminal complaint against the judges responsible for granting non-existent land use in favor of the Trepi real estate company. Sesma emphasized the unity among the political groups in the local Congress against this measure, and stated that all necessary legal resources will be presented to prevent construction in the protected area.

The Front in Defense of Chapultepec Forest is made up of residents, activists, council members, members of Community Participation Commissions, Civil Society Organizations, and environmentalists, who plan to carry out various social and political actions in the coming days to protect Chapultepec Forest.
