A month after taking office, the LXI Local Legislature defined the presidencies and composition of the 25 legislative committees in a ballot voting during a plenary session. The PAN proposal was chosen with 14 votes in favor from deputies of various parties, including PRI, PVEM, MC, and independent.
Regarding the distribution of the committees, Guillermo Vega Guerrero will chair the Administration and Justice Procurement Committee, Enrique Correa Sada the Mobility Committee, and Gerardo Ángeles Herrera the Planning and Budget Committee, which resulted in a disagreement between Morena and PAN, who did not reach a consensus in these areas.
The coordinator of Morena, Edgar Inzunza, expressed surprise at the results, as the Morena and PT block totaled 12 votes, indicating that one legislator from the Fourth Transformation did not follow the party line. The ballot voting allowed for the identification of voters, except for two deputies, with whom dialogue is expected to understand their choice.
In the case of PVEM, while they have shown support at the national level, they have shown reservations at the local level. A party member indicated that it is difficult to understand how some deputies can change their ideological stance depending on the direction of the Palmillas toll booth, but assured that they already have allies in the legislature.
Some legislators expressed their dissatisfaction with the distribution of committees, criticizing that the knowledge and experience of each legislator were not adequately considered in the assignments. It was also expected that the Gender Equality Committee would have an exclusively female composition.
In summary, the presidencies, secretariats, and members of the different local legislative committees have been defined, with a clear division between the parties represented in the LXI Legislature. The deputies will work in areas ranging from Administration and Justice Procurement to Public Security, with challenges and expectations raised by the legislators themselves.
