The Attorney General's Office of the Republic (FGR) of Mexico expressed its concern about the lack of information provided by the Government of the United States regarding the detention of Ismael 'El Mayo' Zambada. According to the Attorney General, Alejandro Gertz Manero, there are still details that have not been delivered, and he questioned the method used in the capture, suggesting that it was carried out through a kidnapping.
Among the issues raised, it was mentioned that the aircraft in which Zambada was traveling would land in a border city in Texas with cloned registrations and incorrect documentation. Gertz Manero highlighted the obligation of U.S. authorities to provide this information and questioned why the pilot was not detained, stating that they will continue to insist on obtaining clarity regarding this matter.
In response, U.S. Ambassador to Mexico, Ken Salazar, stated that there has been constant communication with Mexican authorities since the moment of the detention of 'El Mayo' Zambada on July 25. Salazar mentioned that after the capture, they have been in contact with the Government of Mexico and have responded to requests for information, emphasizing the importance of cooperation between both countries in terms of security.
In an official statement, Salazar expressed his gratitude for the joint work done to understand the events of July 25 and committed to continue coordinating with Mexican authorities on these cases. Additionally, the ambassador informed about the communications and meetings held, including the visit of an FBI official to Mexico to share relevant information with local authorities.
