State legislators met with State Treasurer Carlos Garza Ibarra to discuss the 2025 Budget in a meeting where a potential financial deficit of up to 10 billion pesos in the state's finances was addressed. The possibility of a Fiscal Package that could involve debt of up to 14.5 billion pesos was also considered, a prospect that was rejected during the meeting.
The PAN coordinator, Carlos de la Fuente, reported that in addition to the amounts mentioned, the Executive proposed allocating up to 25 billion pesos for investment in public works. However, a detailed analysis of the proposed works and their respective technical projects, as well as the associated repercussions, will be carried out.
During the course of the meeting, the demands of the municipalities were discussed, and the possibility of increasing the allocations from 20% to 30% was raised. Heriberto Treviño, coordinator of the PRI, expressed the need for a municipal budget that is equitable and just for the municipalities that need it. It was explained that the conversations are still ongoing and are expected to continue in the coming hours.
"We want a municipal budget, a good budget for the municipalities that require it, we want it to be equitable and just, we will see the option of raising the allocations from 20% to 30%, we are looking at whether it should be 25% or 27%... we discussed that, they also seek the welfare of the municipalities," emphasized Treviño Cantú.
It is crucial to address the notable deficit of approximately 10 billion pesos that the state faces in 2024, which is why different scenarios are being evaluated, ranging from a debt of 0% to 15%. The meeting also included the presence of deputies Eduardo Elizondo, Myrna Grimaldo, and Ivonne Álvarez, among others.
