
A group of five prominent jurists has been selected by the agreement of President Claudia Sheinbaum to be part of the Executive Power Evaluation Committee. This committee will be responsible for evaluating candidates for the positions of judges, magistrates, and ministers in the coming year, reviewing their files, compliance with legal and constitutional requirements, as well as their technical knowledge and good professional reputation.
Among the members of the Committee is Arturo Zaldívar, a lawyer with a master's degree and doctorate in Law, who has been a Minister of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation and president of the SCJN from January 2019 to December 2022.
Another member of the Committee is Mary Cruz Cortés Ornelas, a lawyer and master in electoral law, a magistrate in the Superior Court of Justice of Tlaxcala, in addition to being the director of evaluation and monitoring of the criminal justice system in that state and spokesperson for the new criminal justice system in the region.
Isabel Inés Romero Cruz is another one chosen to be part of the Evaluation Committee. A lawyer with two master’s degrees in various branches of law, with experience in peace culture, inclusion, and gender, as well as in children's rights.
Javier Quijano Baz, who also joins the Committee, is a lawyer who has excelled in the academic field and as a public servant.
Finally, Vanessa Romero Rocha, a law graduate and president magistrate of the Superior Court of Justice and the Judiciary Council of the State of Veracruz, has been selected to participate in the evaluation of judges, magistrates, and ministers for the following year.
The selection of these professionals was based on their backgrounds of professionalism, honesty, and competence, with the objective of ensuring impartiality and objectivity in the selection process that has been entrusted to them.
