
The Evaluating Committee appointed by the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, to lead the selection process of judges, magistrates, and ministers was composed of five distinguished legal specialists. The members include Arturo Zaldívar, Isabel Inés Romero Cruz, Vanessa Romero Rocha, Javier Quijano Baz, and Mary Cruz Cortés Ornelas.
Arturo Zaldívar, a recognized lawyer with a master's degree and doctorate in Law, was the president of the Supreme Court of Justice from January 2019 to December 2022. Throughout his career, Zaldívar has excelled in both the academic field and public service, making him a relevant figure in the evaluation of candidates for the Judiciary.
The functions of the Evaluating Committee include issuing the Call for applicants, reviewing files, evaluating compliance with constitutional and legal requirements, as well as identifying the most suitable candidates for judicial positions, focusing on their integrity, competence, and professional background in the legal field.
On the other hand, the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation announced the composition of another Evaluating Committee for the Judicial Branch of the Federation, formed by Wilfrido Castañón León, Mónica González Contró, Emma Meza Fonseca, María Emilia Molina de la Puente, and Luis Enrique Pereda Trejo, who are responsible for presenting proposals for the electoral process that will select new judicial figures in the country.
