Appointment to the Judges Evaluation Committee

President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo announced on Thursday, October 31, that Vanessa Romero Rocha will be part of the evaluation committee for judges for the election of 2025, where the next judges, magistrates, and justices of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) will be elected. Along with Vanessa, the jurists Arturo Zaldívar, Isabel Inés Romero Cruz, Javier Quijano Baz, and Mary Cruz Cortés Ornelas will carry out the review of the files of the candidates for a position within the Judiciary.

The committee will be responsible for evaluating compliance with constitutional and legal requirements, identifying the most qualified individuals with technical knowledge for the position, and confirming that the candidates are distinguished by their honesty, good public reputation, competence, and academic and professional backgrounds in legal activity.

The committee members were selected for their distinguished careers in different areas of law across various parts of the Republic, and their professionalism and honesty were verified beforehand to ensure objectivity and impartiality.

Vanessa Romero Rocha holds a law degree from the Escuela Libre de Derecho and has two master's degrees in different topics of the discipline, one of which is from University College London. In addition, she has experience in peace culture, inclusion, gender, children's rights, and optional protocols.

Vanessa has stood out as a columnist and collaborator for national and international media outlets. Additionally, her curriculum includes recognitions as a distinguished lawyer recognized by Chambers and Partners Latin America, and honorable mentions for her work on inclusion, gender, and peace culture issues. She was a member of the Working Group on inclusion, gender, and peace culture at the Escuela Libre de Derecho, participating in the drafting of important Guidelines.
