Claudia Sheinbaum Critiques New PAN Leader

President Claudia Sheinbaum referred this morning to the victory of Jorge Romero as the new national leader of the PAN. She stated that she has known Romero since his time as head of Government of Mexico City, pointing him out as being in charge of a corruption scheme in the Benito Juárez mayor's office known as the Real Estate Cartel. With irony, she mentioned that the party had not experienced a significant change in its leadership.

Jorge Romero, for his part, responded by emphasizing that the opposition will be smarter and that while they will respond to criticism, they will not focus all their attention on it. He stated that the exposure in the Mañanera of the People will give him visibility and that if he were truly involved in a cartel, authorities would have already taken action against him.

Romero, who will lead the PAN for the next three years, mentioned the challenges they will face: rebuilding the party as a viable alternative to the federal government and regaining citizen trust. Political analysts have opined that the PAN needs to define its alliance with the PRI, renew leadership, and reconnect with voters to achieve its objectives.

Jorge Romero stated in interviews that the PAN will be an intelligent opposition and invites dialogue with the current government for the good of the country, seeking solutions that benefit the population instead of focusing on conflicts between political parties.
