Claudia Sheinbaum and the Future of the PAN: An Impossible Dialogue

President Claudia Sheinbaum seems to have ruled out any dialogue with the PAN and other opposition parties, trusting in her legislative power and disregarding the opposition. This presents a dilemma for the new PAN leader, Jorge Romero, who faces the need for a bolder and more mobilized opposition in the face of a government that ignores the pain of the population.

Claudia Sheinbaum and the Future of the PAN: An Impossible Dialogue

President Claudia Sheinbaum is considering changing the methods her mentor used to achieve victory in the past elections, which left the opposition bloc in a weak position. Despite the ruling party feeling confident with the results obtained, is it necessary to engage in dialogue with opposition parties such as PAN, PRI, or MC? Although they hold a majority in both legislative chambers, this majority has been questioned regarding its origin and leads to the approval of decisions that could affect the fundamental rights of citizens.

The autocracy in power seems to despise the opposition and does not see the need to engage with them. Even in the face of a dialogue offer from the national leader of PAN, Jorge Romero, the response seems to be rejection. In this scenario, the opposition finds itself needing to rethink its role, adopting a more active and mobilizing stance against possible abuses of power.

The pain and disillusionment of Mexican citizens in the face of a government that seems indifferent to their needs is evident. The lack of response to issues such as the disappearance of people, shortage of medications, or insecurity has created a climate of discontent and distrust in institutions. In this context, the question arises about what the role of the opposition should be: to engage in dialogue with the government or align with the demands of the people?

The recent election of the national leader of PAN, Jorge Romero, amid corruption accusations, raises doubts about the direction the main opposition party will take. In a political landscape dominated by the ruling party, the need for a strong and brave opposition capable of challenging the established power and truly representing the interests of the citizenry becomes evident.

Given the current situation, there is a need for new political parties willing to challenge the status quo and effectively represent the citizenry. A change in attitude and approach from the opposition is necessary to counteract the concentrated power in the current government and ensure an effective balance of powers for the benefit of all citizens.
