Senator Higinio Martínez acknowledged that the security demands of citizens are also a call towards previous governments of different political affiliations. Martínez mentioned recent violence cases, such as the disappearance of 17 merchants in Guerrero, the murder of 10 people in a bar in Querétaro, and the murder of five people in the State of Mexico. He emphasized the importance of addressing this problem to end the suffering in the country, regardless of who is responsible.
Martínez and Saúl Monreal, senators from Morena, expressed the need for all political sectors to unite against the criminal violence affecting Mexico. During a commission meeting in the Senate, Martínez highlighted the importance of the support and unity they have received in light of this situation. A proposal led by President Claudia Sheinbaum was discussed to expand the powers of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection with the aim of tackling high levels of violence, including intelligence tasks and coordination with the Army and the National Guard.
Senator Martínez publicly praised the opposition for supporting Sheinbaum's security initiative and emphasized that this issue should unite all Mexicans, especially those with government and legislative responsibilities. He underscored the urgency of stopping the violence and ensuring the peace that the Mexican people deserve. He unusually acknowledged the opposition for their support and stressed that the focus should be on preventing current problems rather than pointing fingers at the past.
