Jalisco Legislature Approves Committee Integration

In a late-night extraordinary session, Jalisco's 64th Congress approved the formation of various commissions, addressing issues from health to economic development. Additionally, they elected Eduardo Fabián Martínez Lomelí as the new secretary general, and planned an accountability exercise for November.


Jalisco Legislature Approves Committee Integration

The 64th legislature of the Congress of the State of Jalisco held its first extraordinary session at 2:30 a.m., presided over by Deputy Mónica Magaña of Movimiento Ciudadano. During the session, the integration of the committees was approved, distributed as follows: Movimiento Ciudadano has five committees, including Finance and Budget; Security and Justice; Hygiene, Public Health and Addiction Prevention; Mobility and Transport; and Administration and Planning.

The parliamentary group of Morena also has five committees: Oversight and Anti-Corruption System; Legislative Studies and Regulations; Substantive Equality and Gender; Constitutional and Electoral Points; and Citizen Participation, Transparency and Ethics in Public Service. The PAN has three committees: Social Assistance, Family and Childhood; Governance and Municipal Strengthening; and Responsibilities. The PRI has two committees: Human Rights and Indigenous Peoples; as well as Metropolitan Management. Hagamos también has two committees: Competitiveness, Economic Development, Innovation and Labor; and Education, Culture, Sports and Youth. The remaining factions in the Local Congress each have one assigned committee.

In another decision made during the session, Eduardo Fabián Martínez Lomelí was sworn in as the secretary general. Additionally, the exercise of accountability called Glosa 2024 was approved, which will take place on the 20th, 21st, and 22nd of November. During this exercise, heads of various government agencies of Enrique Alfaro's administration will meet with the deputies to answer questions and doubts about their last year of management.

Finally, the hiring of additional personnel according to the law was approved, as well as the salary scale of the Legislative Power of the State of Jalisco.
