The National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) was recently mentioned in the presidential morning conference. The history of the president's family, Claudia Sheinbaum, was highlighted. She recounted that engineer Javier Barros Sierra, who was rector of UNAM in the past, played an important role in her mother's life. Through academic contests, she managed to secure a position in the Faculty of Sciences of this prestigious educational institution.

Claudia Sheinbaum's mother is recognized as an eminent researcher at UNAM and a prominent figure in her field. During the president's childhood, she often accompanied her mother on visits to the Lecumberri prison to support political prisoners from the 1968 student movement. These experiences deeply marked Sheinbaum.

In a critical turn, Sheinbaum mentioned differences with previous governments, emphasizing the freedom experienced today, despite criticisms of authoritarianism. She highlighted that there was repression from the Mexican state before, whereas currently there are greater freedoms.

Regarding a report of surveillance on her mother between 1968 and 1977 by the Federal Security Directorate, Sheinbaum expressed her pride in being the daughter of Annie Pardo, the scientist who was allegedly spied on due to her participation in student movements and trips to Cuba. The president stated that she discovered these facts when reviewing her parents' files after assuming the presidency.

Annie Pardo Cemo, Sheinbaum's mother, was a teacher at the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN) at that time and was expelled for participating in student movements, a fact she acknowledges with pride. Subsequently, she continued her career at UNAM.
