Former Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) celebrated his 71st birthday on Wednesday, November 13. This year marked a significant change, as it was his first celebration away from the National Palace, after relocating to Chiapas at the end of his term. The celebration was more private and intimate compared to previous festivities during his presidency.
AMLO's birthday celebration took place at "La Quinta" in El Palenque, Chiapas, where he currently resides. Unlike his previous parties, he chose a strictly family event this time. During his presidency, he usually celebrated with larger events and the presence of political figures and close friends. However, on this occasion, he preferred a more discreet tone.
Since leaving the presidency, López Obrador has maintained a more reserved profile regarding his personal activities, although he remains a relevant figure in Mexican politics. Despite stepping back from daily public life, his 71st birthday marked a new chapter in his life, away from media bustle and closer to his family in the south of the country.
Although he did not share details or images of the celebration on social media, AMLO decided to enjoy a more private festivity this year, in line with his desire for a quieter life in contact with nature. His wife, writer and researcher Beatriz Gutiérrez Müller, and his children were present at the celebration, contrasting with the public events of his years as president.
