Expulsion of Yunes Márquez and Yunes Linares from PAN

The Intraparty Order and Discipline Commission of the National Action Party (PAN) officially sanctioned the expulsion of Miguel Ángel Yunes Márquez and his father, Miguel Ángel Yunes Linares, unanimously. This decision was made after both politicians supported the reform of the Judiciary. The president of the commission, Marisol Vargas Bárcena, explained that the expulsion is based on a careful analysis of the circumstances and in compliance with the principles and rules governing the PAN.

The measure taken responds to the need to preserve the integrity and values that characterize the National Action Party, as well as to ensure respect for decisions that strengthen unity and commitment to the citizenry.

Last September, the Morena, PT, and PVEM group secured the key qualified majority votes to promote the Judicial Reform in the Senate of the Republic. This scenario was made possible after a last-minute change in the PAN ranks. Despite being labeled a "traitor," Miguel Ángel Yunes Márquez supported the decision.

At that moment, Yunes Márquez submitted a request for absence, and his father, Miguel Ángel Yunes Linares, took his place as a substitute. Hours later, Yunes Márquez returned to resume his seat and ultimately revealed his vote in favor of the reform of the Judiciary.
