Jorge Romero, recently elected as the next president of the National Action Party (PAN), expressed his willingness to establish a dialogue between the opposition and the government led by Claudia Sheinbaum. However, the president rejected the proposal and mentioned that, if it were to happen, the meeting would be with the head of the Secretariat of the Interior, Rosa Icela Rodríguez.
In an interview with Ciro Gómez Leyva, Romero indicated that the PAN will work on regaining the trust of those who may have lost faith in the opposition or in the party, with the aim of benefiting society as a whole. He expressed his genuine interest in dialoguing not just for protocol, but to contribute to the well-being of the population.
The future leader of the PAN lamented that Sheinbaum has closed the door to dialogue with the opposition, emphasizing the importance of national unity. He criticized the president for promoting division among political parties instead of advocating for the unification of society.
In opposition to Sheinbaum's accusations, Jorge Romero vehemently denied any allegations against him, explaining that there is no basis for such claims. The president's attitude in rejecting dialogue with the opposition, despite the need for unity in the country, was questioned by the PAN leader.
During her morning conference, Sheinbaum criticized the election of the new leadership of the PAN, led by Jorge Romero, recalling his supposed relationship with the so-called "Real Estate Cartel." Romero denied these allegations and emphasized the importance of establishing a constructive dialogue for the benefit of society.
