Yunes Defends Democracy in Veracruz

Senator Miguel Ángel Yunes Márquez declared his commitment to continue defending the democratic pillars that support Mexico and Veracruz. Shortly after, the coordinator of the Morena bench, Adán Augusto López, confirmed Yunes' integration into the majority group of Morena.

In a meeting at the National Palace, President Claudia Sheinbaum received deputies and senators from Morena. After the meeting, Adán Augusto López stated that Miguel Ángel Yunes Márquez is part of the Morena parliamentary group, thus strengthening the majority of 87 senators necessary to approve constitutional reforms.

Yunes announced that he will contest his expulsion from the PAN, considering it arbitrary and lacking basis. Despite having campaigned against Morena, he changed his stance in Congress, casting a key vote for the approval of a judicial reform.

The senator argued that his expulsion undermines the principles of parliamentary immunity and restricts the freedom of expression and voting of each legislator. He emphasized the importance of preserving parliamentary freedom for the proper democratic functioning of the country, without allowing party interests to limit this freedom.
