Expulsion of Yunes from PAN for voting with Morena

The former governor of Veracruz, Miguel Ángel Yunes Linares, expressed his determination to remain in the National Action Party (PAN) despite disagreeing with the reforms proposed by his own party. He argued that his commitment is to the welfare of Mexico and not to blindly align with party decisions. In response to the insults received by him and his son for supporting the 4T, Yunes Linares defended his position, stating that they cannot be labeled traitors without justification, and questioned whether the senators who voted in favor of the judicial reform also deserve that label.

The PAN decided to expel Miguel Ángel Yunes Márquez and his father, Miguel Ángel Yunes Linares, for supporting Morena's initiatives and endorsing the judicial reform. The decision was made unanimously by the party's Order Commission as part of its powers, justifying the measure in the need to preserve the integrity and values that identify the PAN, as well as respecting decisions that reinforce unity and commitment to citizenship.

Miguel Ángel Yunes Linares, after being expelled from Acción Nacional, stated his intention to challenge the decision in court, arguing that his stay in the party is to vote in favor of the country. He emphasized that legislators are not obliged to follow their party's line when casting their votes, which should be an individual decision based on their own conscience. He assured that reforms should not be associated with a party or political color, but that each proposal should be evaluated for its content and benefit to Mexico.
