The national president of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), Alejandro Moreno Cárdenas, warns about the need for Mexico to present itself as a solid and united nation amid the challenging scenarios ahead. In an article titled 'President, take charge', published in the newspaper El Universal, Moreno urges President Claudia Sheinbaum not to allow the influence of former president Andrés Manuel López Obrador in her government.
During her inauguration, Sheinbaum promised certainty, direction, decision-making capacity, and authority to address the country's problems, but according to Moreno, the opposition sees no possibility of dialogue with her. Moreno highlights that, in recent Mexican history, no former president has extended their term beyond six years, and warns of the presence of a supposed 'Amlomaximato' if there is no clear show of authority from the National Palace.
The PRI leader expresses his disagreement with decisions that undermine the rule of law and the division of powers, but acknowledges that Sheinbaum is the legitimate president. He calls for respect for institutions and for avoiding the weakening of institutions, emphasizing the importance of the alternation of power and respect for democratic processes for the stability and growth of the country.
Moreno urges the ruling party to set aside positions that seek to perpetuate defeated leaderships and to focus on solid figures who can carry out effective policies, both nationally and internationally, adequately representing Mexico.
