President Claudia Sheinbaum oversees efforts to aid hurricane John victims in Guerrero and Oaxaca, allocating over 6 billion pesos for affected families. Nine aid centers in Acapulco are operational as of October 19.


Continued Aid for Hurricane John Victims in Acapulco

By instruction of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, the support for the population affected by Hurricane John in 66 municipalities of Guerrero and Oaxaca continues to be implemented. In this regard, a social investment of six billion 109 million pesos has been allocated to assist 154 thousand 155 registered homes. The Secretary of Welfare, Ariadna Montiel Reyes, shared this information during her participation in the General Report of the assistance plan for those affected by the passage of Hurricane John.

During the presentation, led by President Claudia Sheinbaum from Acapulco and in the presence of the Governor of Guerrero, Evelyn Salgado Pineda, and the Governor of Oaxaca, Salomón Jara Cruz, Secretary Montiel detailed that the supports provided in both entities are aimed at cleaning efforts, repairs of homes and businesses, as well as compensating for losses due to livestock and agriculture.

Montiel also mentioned that, through the Program for the Well-Being of People in Social or Natural Emergencies, nine support centers have been established in Acapulco, where the delivery of aid is underway from October 19 to November 1. Furthermore, from November 4 to 10, the rest of the affected municipalities in Guerrero will be covered, while in the 15 municipalities of Oaxaca, the distribution of support will take place from November 4 to 8.

Regarding the operation in Acapulco, as of Saturday, October 26, 52 thousand 269 people had been assisted out of a total of 55 thousand 988 registered, representing an advance of 89.7 percent. The social investment allocated in Acapulco amounts to one billion 491.7 million pesos, and the delivery of aid is carried out directly, without intermediaries.
