Rehabilitation of the Women's Shelter in Celaya

The Institute for Guanajuatense Women (IMUG) is working on the rehabilitation and expansion of the Shelter for Women, their Daughters, and Sons in Celaya with the purpose of strengthening the protection and well-being of women in vulnerable situations. Through the Secretariat of Public Works (SOP), a total investment of 12.03 million pesos has been allocated to improve the shelter's facilities, ensuring dignified and safe spaces for those in need.

The rehabilitation work has been divided into two stages. In 2024, 5.56 million pesos were invested in maintenance work, architectural evaluations, structural improvements, and review of electrical and water/sanitary installations. Since January 2025, a second phase has begun with 6.46 million pesos allocated to expand and improve the conditions of the shelter.

The ongoing works include the rehabilitation of bedrooms, the construction of a service module with a storage room, a laundry area, and a children's playground, the adaptation of restrooms for people with disabilities, the construction of a storm tank for rainwater management, the installation of a cistern, and connecting walkways for greater accessibility.

In the words of Juan Pablo Pérez Beltrán, head of the SOP, the goal is to complete the work by October 2025, ensuring that women and their children have a safe, functional, and dignified space in the shelter.
