In the city of Celaya, Guanajuato, a case of sexual harassment has been reported that has generated outrage. On February 2, 2025, a woman was harassed by a man while walking through the Zona de Oro neighborhood. The events were captured on security cameras from nearby houses where the abuse occurred.
In a video that went viral on social media, it can be seen how the woman was walking on Avenida 12 de octubre when a Nissan Tsuru car stops next to her. A man in denim pants and a gray shirt gets out of the vehicle, begins to follow the woman, and touches her intimate parts. The victim heads toward a house, her final destination, and while taking out her keys to open the door, the attacker strikes.
In a moment of distraction, the man bites the woman's buttock without her consent, taking advantage of her while she was opening her front door. The victim, shocked by the aggression, could not react in time to defend herself. After committing the act, the attacker flees running and gets into his Nissan vehicle to escape unpunished.
Alma Virgen, Director of the Women's Institute of Celaya, has urged the victim to report the incident if she has not done so yet. So far, it is unclear if the woman has filed a complaint with the authorities. The dissemination of this case has caused shock and has reiterated the importance of combating gender violence in society.
