UN Denies Links with Event in Celaya

The United Nations (UN) issued a warning to the public regarding the unauthorized use of its name and logos in events and publications held in Celaya, Guanajuato. According to the official statement, neither the UN nor its agencies such as UNESCO or Youth 2030 are associated with the magazine Magazine & Business Woman or with the exhibition titled 'Unexplored Horizons,' which took place in February.

The statement highlights that local authorities, including the Institute of Art and Culture of Celaya, supported the dissemination of the event on official social media. It also identified the participation of public figures from various levels of government in interviews and activities related to the mentioned publication.

One of the key points of the denial focuses on Arthur Elias, who is listed as the founder of Magazine & Business Woman. The UN denied any connection with him and emphasized that Elias does not hold any official position, such as UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, nor does he have any relation with the organization. In this regard, the UN reiterated the importance of verifying the authenticity of initiatives claiming to have its support, offering an email for inquiries.

This case illustrates how easy it is to use the image of an international institution to validate activities without its consent. Therefore, the UN underscored the importance of avoiding unauthorized use of its name and logos in events and publications, reminding the public of the need to confirm the legitimacy of these initiatives.
