
In the State of Mexico, federal forces arrested an alleged member of a criminal organization operating in the eastern zone of Mexico City. The detainee is believed to be linked to a criminal group involved in drug trafficking, extortion, kidnapping, and other crimes in the region.
According to a joint statement from the Secretariats of Security and Citizen Protection, National Defense, Navy, the Attorney General's Office, the National Guard, and local prosecutors, the operation that led to the arrest of Brandon Salvador 'N' was successfully carried out in a property in Coacalco, State of Mexico.
During the operation, 102 bags containing a substance similar to cocaine, suspected marijuana, cash, a usable cartridge, a laptop, and a mobile device were seized. The detainee was handed over to the relevant authorities for further investigations.
In another recent event, federal forces arrested an alleged member of a criminal organization in Querétaro, related to criminal activities in Mexico City and the State of Mexico. The detainee faces charges for kidnapping, cargo robbery, homicides, and drug trafficking, among other crimes.
The capture took place in San Juan del Río, Querétaro, where an arrest warrant for extortion against Armando 'N', alias 'Ajenjo', was executed, who is said to be identified as the plaza leader of the Nuevo Imperio cartel in the Azcapotzalco borough of Mexico City.
Additionally, it was reported that the Senate approved the Public Security Strategy 2024-2030 proposed by President Claudia Sheinbaum, which focuses on key areas such as addressing root causes, consolidating the National Guard, strengthening intelligence and investigation, and total coordination in the Security Cabinet with federal entities.
Since the beginning of Sheinbaum's administration in October 2024, Mexican authorities have made significant arrests, including 18,700 people for serious crimes and the confiscation of 144 tons of drugs, including over two million fentanyl pills, reported the head of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection, Omar García Harfuch.
