On Tuesday, October 22, at the Plaza Cosmopol in Coacalco, Estado de México, a robbery occurred at the Bizarro jewelry store. The criminals used hammers to break a display case and access jewelry and watches, creating panic among the people present at the scene. Despite the deployment of security forces, there have been no arrests related to the robbery so far.
Some witnesses mentioned hearing what sounded like gunshots, although authorities have not confirmed this detail. The robbers left the hammers at the scene, and the situation led staff and visitors to seek refuge in other stores or leave the plaza quickly. During the robbery, the criminals intimidated the security staff and activated the alarms of the establishment.
Although the rest of the plaza continues to operate, the area where the robbery occurred remains cordoned off and under surveillance. After the incident, the jewelry store closed its curtains to take an inventory of the stolen items. Images and videos are circulating on social media showing security agents patrolling the area and onlookers observing the damage caused.
A month prior, on September 24, a lifeless body was found in an abandoned car in the Cosmopol parking lot. The victim, whose identity was not revealed, had been in the vehicle for at least two weeks. Upon discovery, it was confirmed that the car had no active theft report, suggesting it belonged to a resident of Tlalnepantla.
After noticing a strong odor coming from the vehicle, agents cordoned off the area, notified the Attorney General's Office of the State of Mexico, and proceeded with the inspection. So far, investigations are ongoing to clarify both the robbery at the jewelry store and the appearance of the body in the parking lot.
