Mexican authorities on Thursday in Colima, western Mexico, arrested six people, including a leader of a criminal faction dedicated to the sale and trafficking of various narcotics, and seized more than 270 kilograms of fentanyl. Through their social networks, the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), Omar García Harfuch, reported on the actions carried out by members of the Security Cabinet, in the municipality of Villa de Álvarez, Colima. «As a result, more than 270 kilograms of fentanyl were seized, both in powder and pill form, which is equivalent to approximately 14 million doses that will not reach the streets,» he pointed out. As a result of these events, he stated, Yair 'N' was arrested, who was identified as the leader of a criminal faction dedicated to the sale and trafficking of fentanyl and methamphetamine in the region. «In these operations, six people were also arrested and two properties used for the storage of narcotics were located,» the official noted. In a separate statement, the SSPC pointed out that during the operations, two residences were located that were being used as a clandestine laboratory and warehouse for the storage of narcotics. These arrests come in the context of pressure from the United States, which has shown the possibility of directly attacking the cartels operating in Mexico to combat drug trafficking. However, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has repeatedly refused to allow any U.S. military action on her country's soil.
