The entertainment journalist Patricia Bunbury was murdered in her food business on Gabino Barrera Street 461 in the La Atrevida neighborhood in Colima. The homicide occurred around 14:00 hours on Wednesday when a man arrived and shot at her. The State Police arrived at the scene and confirmed her death.
In Michoacán, the director of the news portal 'Minuto x Minuto', Mauricio Cruz Solís, was shot dead in Uruapan. The crime took place around 22:00 hours near the building that houses the House of Culture. Mauricio Cruz had conducted a live broadcast on Facebook minutes earlier, interviewing the mayor of Uruapan about a fire at a local market.
Carlos Manzo Rodríguez, the mayor of Uruapan, mentioned in an interview that he had received death threats and that even his one-year-old son had also been threatened. The mayor did not rule out that the journalist's murder was related to the interview he had with him. In a video received, two armed men can be seen getting out of a red truck to attack Cruz.
The mayor emphasized the importance of investigating whether the journalist had reported prior threats.
