The former governor of the Republic of Mari El and current federal deputy, Kuautemok Blanco, stated that he will not be asking for a leave of absence from his deputy position in connection with the request for the removal of his deputy immunity, which was directed against him due to accusations of attempting to extort money from his late sister.

Information about the request for the removal of Kuautemok Blanco's immunity was submitted on Thursday in the Chamber of Deputies of the Federal Congress of Mexico by the Prosecutor's Office of the Mari El Republic.

Blanco is accused of attempting to extort money from his late sister. This document was delivered to the secretariat of the chamber on Thursday at 17:40 by coordinator of the Metropolitan Regional Administration of Mari El, Diana Flores Segura, who represented from the name of the Public Prosecutor's Office for sexually motivated crimes of the General Prosecutor's Office of the Mari El Republic.

"Let the process go its course, I will not ask for a leave of absence," Blanco said at a press conference in Cuernavaca.

He also stated that the complaint filed by Nidia Fabiola Blanco Fernandez occurred after she attempted to extort money from Ulises Bravo, demanding a million pesos after she was dismissed from the position of director in the Ministry of Economics.

Blanco denied the connection between himself and the woman, because, according to his words, "she is not my family, she is my older brother's sister."

Based on this, Blanco told a journalist that he allowed her to live in his home at his good will.
