The future of Cuauhtémoc Blanco, former governor of Morelos, and Alejandro 'Alito' Moreno, national leader of the PRI, is uncertain, as the review of the requests for immunity removal for both officials will take place next week. This was confirmed by Hugo Eric Flores Cervantes, president of the Juridical Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, indicating that the impeachment process will not include political issues.
During an interview with Azucena Uresti, Flores pointed out that the Juridical Commission will discuss the admissibility of both requests next Wednesday, February 19. In that session, the requirements for admissibility, jurisdiction, and the proper integration of the impeachment files presented by the Morelos Prosecutor's Office will be analyzed. Additionally, it was reported that this process began when the Prosecutor's Office submitted the immunity removal request, and more documents are being requested to guarantee the transparency of the process.
Among the cases to examine is that of former governor Cuauhtémoc Blanco, accused of attempted rape by his half-sister, Nidia Fabiola, and being linked to corruption crimes, including an irregular payment of 7 million pesos from the Social Democratic party to enter politics.
On the other hand, it is mentioned that the State Attorney General points to 'Alito' Moreno for alleged illicit enrichment during his term as former governor of Campeche. He is being investigated for possible crimes such as influence peddling, diversion of federal funds, money laundering, illicit enrichment, and tax fraud. The trial against Moreno has been pending for months and was kept under wraps during the previous legislature.
